1/2" Stock Bump Roller and Truing Tool for Small Lathe Centering Operations

This tool is designed to center and true up small workpieces that are too short to fully insert into your chuck. Loosely secure the stock in the chuck and gently bring the tool post into light contact with the stock while rotating the chuck by hand. The roller contacts the high spots, quickly truing the stock for cutting or facing operations. Always tighten the workpiece securely before beginning any cutting operation. The tool features bearings on both ends, allowing it to be rotated 90 degrees for use on workpieces requiring turning or facing. It measures approximately 4 inches in length and is constructed from 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch square stock, making it compatible with any tool post that accepts a 1/2 inch square tool bit. The roller bearings have a 1/4 inch bore, are 9/32 inch wide, and 3/4 inch in diameter. A stainless steel washer spaces the bearing away from the bar, and the bearings are secured using a stainless steel 1/4-20 button head screw, precision ground to length.
