6-Sided Optical Teaching Prism

Cubic prism measuring 30 mm per side, weighing approximately 85 g. Fabricated from optically clear K9 artificial crystal glass — selected for stable Abbe number and minimal internal stress. All six faces are polished using hybrid mechanical and manual techniques, with special attention to edge geometry and surface flatness verified by visual inspection only (no automated metrology required for this application class). When placed under natural or LED room lighting, the prism produces rich, saturated colour transitions across its facets — varying from deep violet to golden amber depending on line-of-sight direction. This effect arises from dielectric coating interference rather than pigment or dye, ensuring long-term stability and fade resistance. Suitable for secondary school science departments, university physics labs, maker spaces and home learning environments. Also functions as a minimalist decorative object for desks, bookshelves or exhibition displays. Not rated for optical instrument integration or high-intensity illumination sources.
