A county called pernicious

Abe was living the quiet life in the rural country side outside of missoula, montana, fully retired from his big city police lieutenant job. when trouble came to town though, he'd have to rally the troops for one more operation. this time it was personal. unhandcuffed from the rules and laws of his former life as a civil servant, he could handle the problem anyway he saw fit. one glaring question was in front of him though...would he be able to make rational decisions, given the emotional attachment and personal interest he had? could he put together a team of equally minded individuals who had the same motivations as him? then there were the locals who he'd have to win over to his cause... could a first generation montanan, an outsider by all accounts, penetrate the deep roots of those who have lived in pernicious county for generations?
