Alyson crowley had experienced nothing but heartbreak, despair and grief in her years of growing up in coastal florida. her emotions had been stunted, turned off and locked away since she made her getaway to chicago not long ago. however, beseeched duty to her older sister theresa in a time of need drags alyson back to her childhood home and all the resentment that had begun there. learning how to participate in a life with her family again proves to be challenging. alyson is resistant to let herself feel anything, but one conversation with a co-worker of theresa's seems to changing things against her will. alyson had long given up on love, kindness and caring, but cole spier and his welcoming blue eyes are bound and determined to breakdown all of alyson's internal walls. reluctant and confused, alyson must decide if she's ready to become the person she has always secretly hoped she could be.
