Compact CAN FD SPI Module

A highly integrated, small-footprint SPI-to-CAN FD module centred on the MCP2518FD controller and ATA6560 transceiver. Constructed on standard PCB material; operates at 3.3V or 5V supply; consumes just 15 µA in sleep state and up to 20 mA when fully active. Fully conforms to ISO 11898-1:2015 for CAN FD and CAN 2.0B, supporting arbitration bit rates up to 1 Mbps and data bit rates up to 8 Mbps. Includes 31 user-configurable FIFOs, one transmit queue, and 32-bit timestamping for transmit FIFO entries. No hazardous chemicals used. Intended for direct connection to microcontroller SPI peripherals — no proprietary firmware or OS dependencies required. Widely deployed in academic research, prototyping labs, and small-batch industrial controllers where space, power, and protocol fidelity are constrained but non-negotiable.
