25-piece set: 23 copper nails (89 mm × 3.5 mm), 1 stainless steel nail (89 mm × 3.5 mm), 1 cobalt HSS drill bit nail (69 mm × 3.5 mm). All dimensions verified per ISO 898-1 tolerances. Copper purity exceeds 99.9%, providing stable electrochemical potential for sustained ion migration in moist wood. Stainless steel grade 304 ensures yield strength > 520 MPa for repeated pilot-hole setting. Cobalt HSS (M35 alloy) delivers Rockwell C67–69 hardness and thermal stability up to 650°C. Mechanism: copper ions bind to polyphenol oxidase and superoxide dismutase enzymes in meristematic tissue, inhibiting wound response and carbohydrate translocation — resulting in progressive desiccation from the point of insertion outward. Recommended for stumps ≤ 35 cm diameter; apply during late summer to early autumn when sap flow is reduced but cambial activity remains sufficient for ion uptake.
