Glass Triangular Rainbow Prism

Hand-selected optical glass prism shaped into an equilateral triangular cross-section. Approximate physical footprint: 5 cm base × 5 cm height × 3 cm depth; mass ~120 g. Polished faces ensure smooth light transition and reduce glare-induced measurement error during classroom experiments. Functions as a passive optical element: bends incoming light rays and separates polychromatic light into its spectral components based on wavelength-specific refraction. Ideal for illustrating why rainbows appear in nature, how prisms are used in spectrometers, and the relationship between colour and energy in the visible spectrum. Fits standard UK science supply inventories — compatible with existing light boxes, ray optics kits and whiteboards. Also supports informal learning at home, science clubs, and public engagement events such as British Science Week demonstrations.
