Gypsophila paniculata Snowflake - Baby's Breath, Plant in 9cm Pots
Gypsophila paniculata are native to central and eastern Europe. A well known plant for its use in the floristry trade. Tiny star shaped white flowers are produced in huge numbers, giving the impressions of a white "Mist". Snowflake is an excellent cultivar with up to 50% of the flowers bring double. Be sure to plant in a good sunny location in alkaline or neutral soil. These plants dislike acid soils, infact the name Gypsohpila means "Chalk-Loving". This plant is technically a perennial but is best grown as an annual. The huge flower production weakens the plant so much they often will not survive the winter. Dead head to extend flowering period. Excellent in a mixed planting, or in groups. Can easily be grown in a pot or other container. Use a good quality compost and ensure you feed regularly as a hungry plant is a poor performer. We recommend Osmoscote pro 8-9 month applied in the early spring. One application gives all the nutrients the plant requires for the whole year.
