The rubber of the balloons releases an excessive amount of nitrosatable substances and nitrosamines (measured values up to 4.2 mg/kg and 0.06 mg/kg, respectively). Nitrosamines can cause cancer if swallowed or through skin contact. A child could be exposed to them if they touch the product or put it in their mouth..
