Lavatera x clementii Mary Hope - Mallow Mary Hope, Plant in 9cm Pot
The Species Lavatera originate from Europe, western Asia, Australia and the USA. The plants of L. x clementii are a cross between L. olbia and L. thuringii. These are highly popular plants. They grow almost anywhere, are vigorous and produce an abundance of beautiful Hibiscus like (not surprising as they are closely related), widely funnel shaped flowers from June to September. Mary Hope is a compact and long flowering variety, it produces large flowers with overlapping petals in a pure white with a deep pink centre. The semi-evergeen foliage is an attractive grey green. Lavatera are hardy in most places in the Uk. however if you live in a particularly cold area they should be planted in a sheltered location. Can be used in a mixed planting or as a stand alone specimen in the garden or can easily be grown in a pot or container. When growing in a pot or other container. Use a good quality John Innes compost. Ensure you feed regularly as a hungry plant is a poor performer. We recommend Osmoscote pro 8-9 month applied in the early spring. One application gives all the nutrients the plant requires for the whole year. John Innes is a soils based compost.
