These thread reducing inserts are manufactured from 303 stainless steel and measure around 20 mm (0.8 inch) in length. They feature a female thread of M12×1.75 mm and a male thread of M16×2 mm. A small slot aids in alignment and torque transfer during installation. Their primary function is thread repair: for instance, when an M8 thread is damaged, the hole can be enlarged to M10, and this reducer used to bring the thread back to M8 while improving mechanical retention via stainless steel’s higher yield strength compared to typical replacement hardware.
