Precision Aluminum Leather Strop & Sander

A purpose-built tool combining strop-like surface conditioning with controlled sanding capability. Made from solid 6061-T6 aluminium alloy, CNC-machined to ±0.1 mm tolerance. Overall size: 120 mm × 35 mm × 22 mm; net weight: 85 g. Dual 1.2 mm-wide paper retention slots accept standard abrasive sheets up to 120 gsm thickness. Handle profile tested across 47 UK-based leatherworkers for optimal thumb-index finger coordination and reduced metacarpal pressure. Functions as both a fine abrasive sander and a passive strop — when used with bare metal surface (no paper), it gently aligns fibres and imparts subtle shine on fully finished edges. When loaded with grit paper, it removes minimal material with maximum control — ideal for correcting minor imperfections without reworking entire sections. Used extensively in British leather guild workshops for restoration projects, bespoke accessory making and teaching foundational finishing techniques — valued for its transparency of feedback, zero learning curve and compatibility with heritage craft methods.
