Salvia greggii Pink Blush - Autumn Sage - Plant in 7cm Pot
Salvia greggii and its close relative Salvia microphylla, with which it is often confused, are perennial shrubs found in the wild in southeastern Arizona and the mountains of eastern, western, and southern Mexico. Both are very complex species which easily hybridizes, especially with each other, resulting in numerous hybrids and cultivars being brought into production since the 1990s, as their popularity as garden plants has soared. Salvia greggii Pink Blush produces terminal racemes of delightful, small, two lipped flowers in hot pink from July to September, set against dainty, small, grey green, aromatic leaves. A lovely plant for the large or small garden. Easy to grow in any full sun, well drained location. In colder areas apply a heavy mulch to the crown in late autumn to protect from frost over winter. This plant can be used in a mixed planting or as a stand alone specimen in the garden or can easily be grown in a pot or other container. Use a good quality compost as this plant. Ensure you feed regularly as a hungry plant is a poor performer. We recommend Osmoscote pro 8-9 month applied in the early spring. One application gives all the nutrients the plant requires for the whole year. This plant likes to be moist.
