Salvia uliginosa - Bog Sage - Plant in 9cm Pot
Originating in South America this is one of the more spectacular of the Sage's. If you are a Salvia/Sage fan, or someone looking for an unusual and spectacular plant as a specimen or back of border plant, then this is for you
A large upright plant with lanceolate and serrated light green leaves. The flowers are a beautiful turquoise blue, individually small but clustered on erect spikes around 30cm tall. The flowers begin at the bottom and flower progressively up the flower spike. As the flowers are quite long lasting, the individual spikes of flowers last a long time. In mature plants there are many flower stems. The overall effect is quite spectacular. As this plant is only half hardy you should apply a heavy mulch to the crown in late autumn to protect from frost over winter. This plant can be used in a mixed planting or as a stand alone specimen in the garden or can easily be grown in a pot or other container. Use a good quality compost as this plant. Ensure you feed regularly as a hungry plant is a poor performer. We recommend Osmoscote pro 8-9 month applied in the early spring. One application gives all the nutrients the plant requires for the whole year. This plant likes to be moist. ..
