This book is a deep study and in-depth look at the first fifty chapters of the book of psalms. most of the psalms resulted from various life circumstances of the author of that psalm. king david's confession to his affair with bathsheba resulted in psalm 51. therefore, the emotional and theological aspects occurring within each book of psalms can make them relatable to our lives today, even though the experiences may not be exactly the same. the book of psalms is essentially a collection of spiritual songs written in the form of hebrew poetry. all of the psalms are written with obvious purpose. the first intent is hymns of praise that highlight the qualities of god in order to encourage worship among the people of god. another type of psalm is a lament, which displays emotions of sadness and fear associated with painful circumstances while still praising god. there are psalms of thanksgiving, showing gratitude for god always providing in times of need. wisdom psalms are known helping god's people to recognize their obedience and blessings. liturgical psalms are notable events in the religious practices of israel, which provide guidance for approaching god in worship.
