Thoriated WT20 TIG Electrodes Red Code

These electrodes contain 98% tungsten and 2% thorium, conforming to the WT20 designation. They measure precisely 1.6 mm in diameter and 150 mm in length, and are supplied in packs of 10 units, each marked with the industry-standard red colour code. Developed for dependable operation in low-current DC and AC TIG welding, they provide reliable arc starts, minimal drift, and efficient reignition after pauses — attributes vital for intricate joint preparation, orbital pipe welding and thin-gauge sheet metal work. Their composition also contributes to slower tip degradation and improved resistance to thermal shock. Used extensively for welding carbon steel, stainless steel, nickel alloys and titanium — this grade supports the full spectrum of metals regularly processed in UK contract fabrication, HVAC installation, bespoke metal art studios and marine refit yards where adaptability and repeatability are key.
