Tricyrtis hirta - Toad Lily, Plant in 9cm Pot
Tricyrtis hirta are native to Japan and are perhaps best known for their unique flowers, ability to grow well in shade and as a later blooming plant. Sprays of exotic looking, purple spotted white flowers appear from August to October, set against hairy, lance shaped, pale green leaves. A delightful and fascinating flower that is at its peak when others are coming to an end. Grows well in a sheltered, shady border or woodland garden, in moist to wet, neutral to slightly acid soil. If you live in a cold area of the country I would rrecommend a deep, dry winter mulch. This plant can be used in a mixed planting or in a container. If planting in a pot or other container. Use a good quality compost. Ensure you feed regularly as a hungry plant is a poor performer. We recommend Osmoscote pro 8-9 month applied in the early spring. One application gives all the nutrients the plant requires for the whole year.
