Measuring 6.5 × 2.5 × 1.8 cm and weighing just 25 g, this USB to RS232 adapter uses the industry-recognised PL2303 chipset and features a 1.5 m USB-A to DB9 male cable with PVC insulation. The housing is made from flame-retardant ABS plastic (UL94 V-0 rated), and the adapter conforms to RS232 standard voltage levels (±12 V), supporting data rates up to 115.2 kbps. It is bus-powered and does not require an external power source. Signal integrity is enhanced through integrated filtering and on-chip ESD protection (IEC 61000-4-2 Level 3), reducing noise-induced corruption during high-speed or long-duration transfers. Driver support spans Windows 7–11, macOS 10.14–14, and mainstream Linux kernels (5.4+), with automatic enumeration on most systems. Field technicians use it to interface programmable logic controllers and environmental sensors; developers rely on it for bootloader communication and UART log capture; and retail managers use it to extend the life of existing serial barcode scanners and thermal receipt printers by connecting them to new Windows or ChromeOS-based tills — avoiding costly hardware refreshes.
