Wind-Driven Strandbeest DIY Kit

Compact assembled footprint of 20 × 13 × 17 cm. Lightweight yet rigid plastic parts ensure reliable joint movement and long-term durability. Fully mechanical — no electronics, magnets or springs — all motion generated by wind turning the rear propeller and transferring rotation via cam-and-lever system to eight articulated legs. Developed as an accessible entry point into Theo Jansen’s strandbeest legacy, prioritising functional accuracy over decorative flair. The included English manual supports independent or guided builds, with emphasis on understanding *why* each component exists — not just where it goes.
